Professional Standards & Code of Conduct

Welcome to Outlaws Publishing. We view publishing not as a transaction, but as a partnership. Every title released under the Outlaws imprint reflects not only the author’s voice, but the reputation of the publishing house as a whole. The following standards are intended to ensure clarity, professionalism, and mutual respect.

1. Professional Conduct

Authors associated with Outlaws Publishing are expected to conduct themselves professionally in all public and private interactions related to their published work.

This includes:

  • Respectful communication with fellow authors
  • Professional interaction with readers
  • Responsible use of social media
  • Refraining from public disputes that could harm the reputation of the imprint

We recognize that disagreements occur. Concerns should be brought directly to the Publisher rather than aired publicly.

2. Editorial Standards

Outlaws Publishing maintains specific language and content standards. While authors retain creative freedom, works published under this imprint must align with our established editorial position.

Material containing graphic vulgarity, explicit sexual content, obscene language, or derogatory slurs will not be published under this imprint.

Revisions may be requested where content does not meet brand standards.

3. Mutual Support

While Outlaws Publishing is not a collective or cooperative, we value a culture of encouragement and mutual advancement.

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Share fellow Outlaws releases when appropriate
  • Participate in coordinated promotions when feasible
  • Support the overall visibility of the imprint

Participation in promotional activities is encouraged but not mandatory unless contractually agreed.

4. Marketing & Public Representation

Authors represent both themselves and Outlaws Publishing when publicly promoting their work.

Authors agree not to:

  • Make false claims about sales or awards
  • Misrepresent royalty structures
  • Publicly disparage the Publisher or fellow authors

Constructive concerns should be handled privately and professionally.

5. Dispute Resolution

Should a conflict arise between Author and Publisher, both parties agree to attempt resolution through direct communication before taking further action.

Outlaws Publishing reserves the right to suspend marketing or terminate agreements if conduct materially damages the reputation or business interests of the imprint.

6. Creative Independence

Outlaws Publishing does not dictate what authors write outside of contracted works.

Authors are free to pursue other projects, genres, or publishing paths consistent with their agreements.

We believe strength in writing comes from conviction, not control.

7. Our Standard

Outlaws Publishing is built on the belief that powerful Western storytelling can carry grit and realism without relying on crude or excessive language.

We publish stories of strength, consequence, and substance.

We expect professionalism from ourselves and from those who publish under our banner.

Final Note

This handbook is not designed to restrict creativity, but to protect clarity, professionalism, and brand integrity.

When we publish a book, we stand behind it. When we sign an author, we stand behind them — and expect the same in return.
